Oilfield fire caused over $3 billion loss

A report has found that the gas blowout and massive fire at Oil India Ltd.’s Baghjan oilfield in the Indian state of Assam in 2020 caused an estimated 250 billion Indian rupees ($3.43 billion) in losses and destroyed around 55% of the area’s biodiversity, News 18 reported citing PTI. The oil well burnt until Nov, 15, 2020, after exploding on June 9, and caused severe ecological damage in the area.
