Ransomware attacks in South Korea more than tripled in 2020

According to the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, ransomware attacks in the country more than tripled in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic-driven growth in the internet activity, SoftPedia reported citing the Yonhap News Agency. The country has seen 65 ransomware incidents in the year through June 4, with the latest attack on a major plastic surgery clinic in Southern Seoul that led to the theft of patients’ personal information.
