The new COVID-19 safety wearable is no longer just a mask; it’s a color-coded plastic bracelet that borrows from the colors of traffic signals. Red means no touching. Yellow means elbows touch only. And green means “Hugs Welcome.”

Chronicling the latest pandemic etiquette put in place at the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce live networking events just outside Richmond, Virginia, the Wall Street Journal says the latest pandemic accessory eliminates awkward situations.

“The greens are just ready to party,” chamber president Danielle Fitz-Hugh told the newspaper, noting that others simply stay off to the side. Or, as those at the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives’ March meeting played it: green is for those ready to party like it’s 2019.

Could the color-coded bracelets be the answer to the confusion regarding the resurgence of events, conferences and trade shows? Maybe. Or not so, considering that many events also include alcohol consumption. As a wedding planner in Denver told the newspaper: “… I will say that once a few drinks get poured, all bets are off… .”
