Willis Towers Watson PLC said Tuesday it has launched a sports and entertainment industry group to identify, mitigate and transfer risks associated with the sector.

Ian Tomlin, head of accident and health, will lead the London-based industry group, Willis said in its statement Tuesday.

Mr. Tomlin reports to Jo Holliday, London-based managing director at Willis. He will retain his current duties in accident and health but will also head up the sports and entertainment practice, all according to an email from a spokeswoman.

Mr. Tomlin said in the statement that the sports and entertainment group could support event organizers and production companies in partnership with the Willis Towers Watson leisure and hospitality practice.

“Clients in the sports and entertainment sector have been badly affected by COVID-19 and new and emerging risks including around event cancellation and pandemic-related coverage as well as the increasing need for spectator management,” Adam Garrard, global head of corporate risk and broking for Willis Towers Watson, said in the statement.
