Japan could lose $17 billion due to cancelation of Tokyo Olympics

Research by Japanese economic research and consulting firm Nomura Research Institute Ltd. has estimated the losses from canceling the upcoming Tokyo Olympics at $17 billion for Japan, The Bridge reported. The research, however, said that the surge in COVID-19 cases after conducting the Olympics games would cause greater financial damage to Japan, which has suffered an estimated $117 billion in economic losses from the two COVID-19-triggered emergency declarations in the past.
