Expanding short-term health plans to be considered by Wisconsin lawmakers

The Wisconsin state Senate is discussing legislation that would allow health insurers to offer so-called short-term plans for up to three years to individuals up from the current 18 months, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Backers of the proposal say it would provide more flexibility to people needing transitional coverage, while critics argue that such plans don't provide a wide range of essential benefits as required by the Affordable Care Act.
