Cyclone Tauktae causes over $2 billion worth of damage

Indian catastrophe risk management consultancy RMSI Pvt. Ltd. said that Cyclone Tauktae, which recently struck the west coast of India, caused an estimated 150 billion Indian rupees ($2.05 billion) worth of losses, The Times of India reported. The cyclone damaged utilities, primarily power and telecom, agriculture, and infrastructure, especially ports, with the Indian state of Gujarat and coastal town Diu most affected by the strong winds and flooding caused by the cyclone that made landfall on May 17.
