Markel names global cyber underwriting executive

Kelly Castriotta has been promoted to managing director, global cyber underwriting executive, at Markel Corp.
In her new role, Ms. Castriotta, who is based in Chicago, will lead the global underwriting strategy for affirmative cyber products, as well as cyber risks impacting various lines of business, the Richmond, Virginia-based company said Wednesday.
Ms. Castriotta joined Markel in 2020 from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, an Allianz SE unit, to help strengthen its cyber underwriting best practices and lead various nonaffirmative cyber initiatives, Markel said.
She replaces Kara Owens, who has left Markel, the company said.
Ms. Castriotta was a Business Insurance 2020 Break Out Award winner.
