Dam burst causes flash floods in Slovakia, emergency declared

A dam broke due to heavy rainfall and caused flash floods in the Slovakian village of Rudno nad Hronom in the Zarnovica district on May 17, damaging homes and gas connections, destroying multiple bridges and killing one person, Floodlist reported. The mayor of the village also declared a state of emergency. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute issued level 3 flood warnings for 8 districts on May 18.
