Two days after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission awarded more than $31 million to four whistleblowers, the agency said Wednesday it has awarded more than $28 million to another.

The SEC said in a statement Wednesday that in the latest case, the whistleblower’s information prompted both the SEC and another federal agency to open investigations that resulted in “significant” enforcement actions.

Under the SEC’s whistleblower program, individuals who provide information to other agencies may be eligible for an award in the related action if they are also eligible for an award in the underlying SEC action, the agency said.

On Monday, the SEC said it had issued one order in which two claimants were awarded almost $27 million and a second order in which one whistleblower was awarded about $3.75 million and another whistleblower about $750,000.

Last week, the SEC said it had awarded $3.6 million to a whistleblower in one case, and $22 million to two whistleblowers in another case.
