Liberty Mutual announces exec changes

Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. has promoted Garth Pepper to lead its North America middle-market operations, the Boston-based insurer said Wednesday.

As president, North America middle market, global risk solutions, Mr. Pepper will head up an organization that provides coverage to midsize businesses across the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Pepper was previously president of Liberty Mutual Canada and will continue to be based in Toronto. He will report to Tracy Ryan, president of Liberty Mutual’s global risk solutions North America unit.   

Rob Marsh, who currently leads Liberty Mutual’s commercial insurance operation in Canada, will replace him as president of Liberty Mutual Canada, based in Toronto.

Mid-sized companies are “growth-oriented and require a range of flexible insurance solutions that can grow with them,” Mr. Pepper said in a statement.

Prior to taking the helm of Liberty Mutual Canada in 2018, Mr. Pepper was a specialty casualty underwriter in London and Toronto.
