Venezuelan court seizes newspaper’s office in defamation case

Venezuelan authorities seized the headquarters of local newspaper CA Editora El Nacional on May 14 in a bid to seek $13.4 million in compensation for defaming Diosdado Cabello, France24 reported citing AFP. The country’s Supreme Court of Justice ordered El Nacional to pay the fine for reprinting a report by Spanish newspaper ABC that accused Mr. Cabello, the vice president of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, of drug trafficking.
