Sampo records 290% surge in pre-tax profits

Finland-based insurer Sampo Oyj’s pre-tax profit rose 290% year-on-year to €632 million ($758 million) in the first quarter, Reuters reported. The insurer’s property and casualty insurance business recorded its strongest ever underwriting performance with 37% growth in underwriting profits to €317 million.
