Paragon snags contingency practices president from Beazley

Paragon Insurance Holdings LLC, a multiline specialty managing general agent, has named Christian Phillips, formerly with Beazley LLP, as president of its newly created Paragon contingency practices.

In this new position, Mr. Phillips, who is based in Naples, Florida, will play a pivotal role, as event cancellations related to COVID-19 have severely affected established contingency business underwriters, the company said.

Avon, Connecticut-based Paragon Insurance Holdings LLC said last year it was acquiring the brand and underwriting platform of Trident Public Risk Solutions, the public entity business of Argo Group International Holdings Ltd.

EPIC Holdings Inc. has an equity stake in Paragon.
