Hilb Group buys Indiana agency

The Hilb Group LLC said Thursday it has acquired Star Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Star Financial Group Inc.

Terms of the transaction, which closed March 1, were not disclosed.

Star Insurance Agency offers personal and commercial insurance, including property/casualty and employee benefits, Hilb said.

As part of the deal, sales managers Leslee Robinson and Billy Davenport and 39 Star employees will join Hilb’s Indiana team, a Hilb spokeswoman said.

Richmond, Virginia-based Hilb, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, is the 28th-largest brokerage of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking.
