Iceland raises volcano alert after 40,000 quakes

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has raised a volcanic eruption alert in the Grindavik region of Reykjanes Peninsula as nearly 40,000 earthquakes rock the region since Feb. 24, Republic World reported. Experts believe that the increased seismic activity is triggered by a huge body of molten rock moving under the peninsula.
