Vodafone Spain fined nearly $10 million for data violations

The Spanish Data Protection Agency has imposed a record fine of €8.1 million ($9.8 million) on telecommunications firm Vodafone Spain SAU for violating data protection laws, Advanced Television reported. The company has been fined for continuing with its commercial tactics despite individual users’ refusals to receive commercial messages over the phone.
