Berkshire Hathaway snags another AIG underwriting leader

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. hired another management liability underwriter from rival American International Group Inc. on Tuesday.

Keith Freid will be product line officer for private and nonprofit management liability insurance in North America for the Boston-based excess and surplus lines unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

Previously, Mr. Freid was head of private and nonprofit management liability at AIG.

The announcement comes one week after Berkshire Hathaway said it had hired Anthony Tatulli from AIG to head executive professional lines for North America.

The moves are part of a flurry of personnel changes among management liability insurers, including QBE North America’s hiring of senior Berkshire Hathaway Specialty underwriters last year.
