Ryan Specialty Group LLC revamped the leadership of its underwriting operations on Tuesday.

The same day that the wholesaler and specialty intermediary announced it planned to become publicly traded and a day after it announced leadership changes at its reinsurance unit, Ryan Specialty said Nick Cortezi would be chairman of RSG Underwriting Managers and Tom Clark would be CEO of the unit.

Previously, Mr. Cortezi held both titles, having succeeded longtime RSGUM leader Mike Rice, who announced his retirement last year. Mr. Clark joined RSGUM in January from Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., where he led the insurer’s excess and surplus lines unit.

In addition, Matt Nichols, who was named president of RSGUM in September, was named senior adviser and consultant to Ryan Specialty Group broker leadership, a Ryan Specialty statement said. Both Mr. Cortezi and Mr. Nichols joined Ryan Specialty through its merger with All Risks Ltd., which was completed last year.

Miles Wuller will succeed Mr. Nichols as president of the underwriting unit, the statement said. Mr. Wuller previously was chief operating officer of the unit.

Ryan Specialty is the third-largest specialty intermediary and third-largest property/casualty wholesaler, according to Business Insurance’s latest rankings.
