Willis Re divestment not enough for Willis-Aon merger

Market sources believe that Willis Towers Watson PLC would have to divest more than just its reinsurance broking unit Willis Re Ltd. to complete the pending merger with Aon PLC, Reinsurance News reported. The deal requires divestitures capped at $1.8 billion of revenue; however, the sale of Willis Re, which accounted for around $1.15 billion of WTW’s revenue in 2020, may not be enough to meet the quota essential for remedying the anti-competition concerns.
