Healthcare sector sees 580% jump in ransomware attacks

A report by U.S.-based cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike Inc. showed 580% surge in ransomware attacks on the global healthcare sector in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ITIJ reported. Ransomware groups could have been attracted to the COVID-19 related sensitive information handled by the healthcare organizations and the importance of potential vaccines developed by the healthcare entities.
