Cyber attack breaches passenger data of multiple airlines

A highly sophisticated cyber attack on the SITA Passenger Service System (US) Inc. servers has compromised frequent-flyer passenger data of many airlines, Threatpost reported. Customer information of Star Alliance member airlines, including Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Singapore Airlines Ltd., and OneWorld members such as Finnair Oyj, Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. and Malaysia Airlines Bhd, has been compromised as part of the attack on SITA, which serves as the communications and IT vendor for 90% of the world’s airlines.
