Automakers halt production in Mexico due to gas shortage

A severe cold snap in Texas has affected the supply of natural gas to Mexico, causing a shortage of gas and forcing Japanese automakers Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corp. to suspend their Mexican operations, Rigzone reported citing Bloomberg. The gas shortage and resulting disruption is another blow to the car industry suffering from the global shortage of semiconductor chips.
