The pandemic-induced telecommuting work teams are not immune to conflict, according to a recent survey of 1,355 workers conducted by the resume-builder company MyPerfectResume.

The survey found that 81% of remote professionals have experienced workplace conflict and that 46% use a work messaging app for their arguments.

Sixty-five percent of workers reported that they experienced conflict with their co-workers specifically, and 19% reported conflict with their boss, 11% with an external manager and 5% with an employee working at another company.

The top three causes of conflict were a “lack of transparency/honesty about something important,” a “clash of values” and a “false accusation.”

Overall, 36% of the respondents felt that their bosses were too aggressive in their texts and that after enduring rounds of virtual conflict with a co-worker or a boss, 39% said that they wanted to leave or actually left their jobs due to the problem.
