California lawmakers read a new proposal Friday that would require the state to create a medical provider network to treat injured workers.

A.B. 1465 would create the California Medical Provider Network, establishing a choice that an employee may choose to treat within their employer’s network or the new network.

The bill would require that the providers in the state system “be sufficient to enable treatment for a variety of injuries in all parts of the state” and “would specify criteria physicians must meet to be included” in the state network.

The bill would require the administrative director to establish rules and procedures for the state network and create and adopt a continuity of care policy.
