Lawmakers in West Virginia introduced a bill that would repeal the state’s contractor workers compensation liability law.

H.B. 2327, introduced Friday, would repeal the current law,  enacted in 2009, which states that primary contractors are responsible for ensuring that their subcontractors are either self-insured or maintain workers comp coverage during the time services are rendered, and that the primary contractor is responsible for the payment of statutory benefits if the subcontractor is not covered.

The bill was referred to the House workforce development committee.
