Gallagher exec named influential African American leader

Bonnie Boone, area executive vice president at Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services Inc., has been named as one of the 100 most influential African American leaders in business by the National Diversity Council.

Ms. Boone was featured on the National Diversity Council’s website Thursday in recognition of the honor.

Ms. Boone is a producer and client executive for Gallagher’s risk management practice group where she develops strategy and places professional liability and other casualty lines for a broad range of large clients.

With over 38 years of industry experience as a broker and underwriter, Ms. Boone joined Gallagher in 2017 from Marsh LLC where she served on the national executive committee for its health care practice.

Ms. Boone was a 2008 Business Insurance Women To Watch honoree and was in 2015 one of three past honorees to be recognized with Business Insurance Impact Awards for their exceptional contributions to diversity and inclusion in their industries.

Ernest Newborn, general counsel & secretary of USI Insurance Services LLC was also named to this year’s list.

As the broker’s chief legal officer and corporate secretary, Mr. Newborn is also senior advisor to the board of directors on governance matters, and to the senior management on strategic and operational concerns.

Mr. Newborn has over 28 years of legal experience, including 25 in the insurance and financial services industry.

The Houston, Texas-based National Diversity Council is a non-profit organization that champions diversity as a business imperative.
