Shell loses Dutch court case over Niger Delta oil leak

An appeals court in the Netherlands has held Royal Dutch Shell PLC’s Nigerian unit responsible for leaking oil pipelines into the Niger Delta in 2008, DW reported. The court has ordered Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. to pay four Nigerian farmers compensation and start a cleanup over oil pollution after it failed to prove that the leak was caused by sabotage.
