Fitch predicts surge in business interruption claims

A report by U.S.-based Fitch Ratings Inc. found that business interruption claims are anticipated to be the largest source of pandemic-related claims for insurers in Australia, Asia Insurance Review reported. While the uncertainty concerning business interruption losses is expected to worsen pressure on their earnings, overall pandemic losses are anticipated to be manageable as insurers have strong capital buffers.
