Connecticut lawmakers filed a handful of bills Thursday that would expand workers compensation coverage in the state.

H.B. 6278 and H.B. 5953 would expand workers compensation coverage for first responders, emergency medical technicians and Department of Corrections employees suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. S.B. 665 would also extend coverage to those job categories for mental or emotional impairments.

H.B. 6279 would provide workers comp coverage for first responder dive teams and canine rescue personnel, and S.B. 660 would expand workers compensation benefits for mental or emotional impairments for all workers.

All five bills have been referred to the joint committee on labor and public employees.
