Skyward names president of specialty lines

Skyward Specialty Insurance Group Inc. said Tuesday it has named John Burkhart to the new position of president of its specialty lines.

Mr. Burkhardt will have oversight of executive and professional liability, health care professional liability, surety, excess and surplus and accident and health businesses at the Houston-based company.

Mr. Burkhardt most recently oversaw management liability, professional liability, financial institutions, health care and transactional liability at QBE North America in Chicago.

Skyward also said Kirby Hill will assume expanded responsibilities as president of industry solutions and specialty programs.

Earlier this month, Skyward, which rebranded from Houston International Insurance Group in November, said it had hired Brenda Craig as senior vice president for its newly formed health care professional liability business.
