The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. announced Tuesday that its 2021 annual conference and exhibition will be an all-digital event to be held April 19 to 29.

RIMS had planned on holding a hybrid in-person and virtual gathering in Chicago in April.

The New York-based risk management association had signaled in October that it might pivot to an entirely digital event amid the continuing impacts of the pandemic.

RIMS canceled its 2020 convention for the first time in its history.

The decision to switch to an entirely digital event was taken with the safety and best interests of all members, conference attendees and employees in mind, a RIMS spokesman said.

The reformatted annual meeting, which is one of the largest international insurance and risk management events, will offer a live digital conference experience with over 100 hours of programming, RIMS CEO Mary Roth and Ellen Dunkin, the organization’s 2021 president, said in an email to members.

All sessions will be recorded and available during the conference and for 60 days afterward, the email said.
