Santam to reconsider previously rejected BI claims

South Africa-based insurer Santam Ltd. has decided to reconsider previously rejected COVID-19 pandemic-related business interruption claims following recent court judgments on similar cases, Reuters reported. Santam, which has earmarked 3 billion South African rand ($206 million) to cover such liabilities, plans to challenge the court’s finding that it was liable for an indemnity period of 18 months in the case filed by Ma-Afrika Hotels (Pty) Ltd.
