Class action filed against Aetna for refusing cancer treatment
Posted On: Dec. 24, 2020 9:55 AM CSTA Florida man filed a class-action lawsuit against Aetna Life Insurance Co., claiming it systematically denied coverage for a cancer treatment called proton beam radiation therapy, Becker’s Payer Issues reports. While some insurers have begun covering proton beam radiation therapy for certain cancers, not all do. In 2019, UnitedHealthcare was sued over its denial of coverage to one of its members who also sought the treatment for prostate cancer.
