Pandemic relief bill would ban surprise billing

Congress is expected to implement a ban on “surprise” medical billing as part of its major spending bill and COVID-19 relief package that lawmakers are expected to vote on Dec. 28, Insurance News Net reported. The legislation will protect patients from being billed in situations, such as going to the emergency room and getting care from a physician who is out of network or not covered by the patient’s insurance plan.
