Alera buys Michigan broker

Alera Group has acquired Lighthouse Group, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based property/casualty and employee benefits brokerage.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lighthouse, which is headed by Tom Helmstetter, places commercial and personal lines business through eight offices in Michigan.

The brokerage’s commercial specialties include construction, manufacturing and retail, Alera said in a statement.

Alera is the 17th largest brokerage of U.S. business according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking.
