Vodafone fined nearly $15 million for GDPR violation

The Italian Data Protection Authority has fined telecommunications company Vodafone Italia SpA’s more than €12.25 million ($14.5 million) for violating the General Data Protection Regulation, Digital TV Europe reported. The telecom company was fined for aggressive telemarketing practices, flaws in its customer information storage system and for obtaining information of up to 4.5 million people without consent.
