Firm offers online tool for tracking virus employment suitsPosted On: Nov. 19, 2020 12:36 PM CST
New York-based Jackson Lewis PC on Thursday announced an online data tool that helps users track state-by-state legal filings and spot trends in COVID-19-related worker/employer litigation.
COVID-19 Employment LitWatch is an interactive dashboard that spotlights the number and types of pandemic-related employment law violations filed by industry and by state, according to a statement.
“The online tool tracks both federal and state filings, visualizes the relationship between new COVID-19 cases and filings, and allows you to sort the cases by plaintiff type to distinguish between single plaintiff verses class action filings,” Patrick DiDomenico, chief innovation officer for Jackson Lewis, said in the statement.
Among insights easily spotted within LitWatch recently include that nearly 75% of all labor and employment COVID-19-related complaints alleged wrongful termination, and only 6% of cases were filed as class or collective actions, according to data compiled through October. More than 25% of all complaints were filed against health care employers, while less than 10% of claims were against manufacturers and less than 5% in education, according to the statement.
