High healthcare costs despite ACA coverage gains

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has found that most Americans are plagued by high healthcare costs despite the gains in insurance coverage brought by the Affordable Care Act, the NPR reports. The study, which was conducted from 2010 to 2017, found that around 11 million of the surveyed citizens experienced “catastrophic medical expenses” and privately insured people represented more than half of those in 2017.
