West Virginia sued over Medicaid transgender discrimination

A suit has been filed over West Virginia’s blanket exclusion of gender-confirmation coverage from its Medicaid and state employee health insurance programs, the Advocate reports. The lawsuit claims that exclusions of gender-confirming care in the state health plans are unconstitutional and discriminatory, and deny transgender and non-binary West Virginians basic dignity, equality, and respect.
