HIIG hires D&O underwriter from AIG

Houston International Insurance Group Ltd. said Tuesday it has hired a directors and officers liability underwriter from American International Group Inc.

The insurer said it has hired Peter Bujosa as public D&O lead in conjunction with the expansion of its management liability coverage to include an excess public D&O product. Mr. Bujosa will join the company in mid-November and be based in Houston. Maximum capacity for the excess coverage is $5 million, according to a spokeswoman.

In addition to being an underwriter at AIG, Mr. Bujosa has also worked at Alliant Insurance Services Inc.’s management liability division, at both insurers with a focus on public D&O.

Houston International said also it had hired Nishal Patel, formerly of AIG, as a director, private company D&O in December. At AIG, Ms. Patel, who is based in Denver, was general insurance strategic initiatives delivery and operations optimization lead.
