VW to compensate former workers persecuted in Brazil

Germany-based automaker Volkswagen AG has agreed to pay 36 million reais ($6.4 million) to compensate its former workers and their families affected by its Brazilian unit’s collaboration with the country’s former military regime, Economic Times reported citing Agence France Presse. Volkswagen do Brasil Ltda.’s security agents have been accused of colluding with Brazil’s 1964-1985 military regime to identify suspected opponents, who were detained and tortured.
