Arthur J. Gallagher and Co. Inc. on Wednesday said it has acquired West Monroe, Illinois-based The Kirksey Agency Inc. in a deal expanding its agricultural expertise.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1980 as a crop insurance agency serving Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi, Kirksey has since expanded to provide commercial and personal coverages to clients across the south-central U.S., Gallagher said in a statement.

Founders Bill and Grace Kirksey and about 12 employees will continue to operate from West Monroe, under the direction of Bumpy Triche, head of Gallagher’s Mid-South region retail property/casualty brokerage operations.

Gallagher is the fourth-largest brokerage ranked by revenue generated by U.S. clients, according to Business Insurance’s 2020 ranking.
