Ascot taps Lyons to lead new U.S. portfolio underwriting division

Ascot Group Ltd. has named former American International Group Inc. executive Anthony Lyons as executive vice president and leader of a new portfolio underwriting division within its U.S. operations.
In a statement Thursday, the Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer said Mr. Lyons, who will be based in New York, will work with third-party firms seeking to do business with Ascot and also oversee group and single-parent captive insurance coverage.
In addition to working closely with current and future managing general agent and managing general underwriter clients, Mr. Lyons will explore new digital distribution models through technological partnerships, Ascot said.
Mr. Lyons most recently served as executive vice president and global head of analytics and technical services at AIG. Prior to that he was president, national accounts primary casualty U.S. and Canada, at AIG.
The new portfolio solutions division builds on Ascot’s earlier work in the programs space, Jonathan Zaffino, group president, said in the statement.
