European reinsurers' COVID-19 bill reaches $6 billion

U.S.-based S&P Global Inc. said that Europe's four biggest reinsurers racked up nearly €3.5 billion ($4.1 billion) of coronavirus claims and reserves in the second quarter of the year, Asia Insurance Review reports. This takes the total in the first six months to nearly €5 billion ($6 billion). The reinsurers include Germany-based Munich Reinsurance Co. and Hannover Re SE, Swiss Re Ltd., and France-based Scor SE.
