Fortnite videogame fans who use Apple products to kill the latest zombies and save the world were hit with the reality that they could not download Thursday’s long-awaited update. Cue crickets.

In a feud that sparked a lawsuit earlier this month, and cheers from parents everywhere, Epic Games’ token game and epic time-sucker and is now banned from Apple Inc.’s spread of applications.

The battle stems from the Fortnite developer’s recent change to its payment scheme that Apple says violated the terms of service, and thus prompted Apple to remove the game from its offerings, according to media reports.

Epic filed a suit against Apple this month and a judge ruled mostly in favor of Apple on Monday, according to outlets covering the battle of the tech giants. The fight ignited a movement — #freefortnight — and the applause of parents tired of the everyday squabbling over gaming. The hypnotic obsession with the game is well-documented.

“Omg fortnite is banned!!! Prayers work!!!!” Alice von Simson, Encinitas, California-based mother of six and personal finance author, wrote on her Facebook page Thursday night.
