Miner’s sets aside $2 billion for fuel spill claims

Russian mining conglomerate MMC Norilsk Nickel PJSC's net profit plunged in the first six months of the year after setting aside $2.1 billion in reserves for an environmental damage claim related to a major fuel spill in the Arctic in May, Reuters reports. The company's profit amounted to $45 million, down significantly from $3 billion in the first half of last year.
