Chubb announces executive changes

Chubb Ltd. on Monday named John Lupica president, North America insurance operations as Paul Krump was appointed vice chairman, global underwriting and claims.

Both appointments are effective Sept. 1, and both executives will report jointly to Chubb chairman and CEO Evan G. Greenberg and John Keogh, executive vice chairman and chief operating officer, the Zurich-based insurer said in a statement.

Mr. Lupica is currently vice chairman, Chubb Group and president, North America major accounts and specialty insurance, while Mr. Krump is currently executive vice president, Chubb Group and president North America commercial and personal insurance.

In his new position, which encompasses his current responsibilities, Mr. Lupica will lead Chubb’s general insurance business in the U.S., Canada and Bermuda including commercial property/casualty, personal lines, agriculture and accident and health businesses.

Mr. Lupica will be responsible for all products, underwriting, marketing and sales, claims, actuarial and support functions related to these business lines, Chubb said.

In his new role, Mr. Krump will lead underwriting and claims policy and execution across Chubb’s global property/casualty insurance product lines, including commercial lines, personal lines, and accident and health, Chubb said.

As vice chairman, global underwriting and claims, Mr. Krump will maintain and strengthen the insurer’s global underwriting standards, rules, authorities and risk management, Chubb said.

He will also retain his current senior executive responsibility for global claims and risk engineering, Chubb said.

Both executives will be based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.
