Hartford unit names wholesale property chief

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. on Wednesday named former Validus underwriter William H. Steinberg head of wholesale property for its Navigators Insurance Co. unit.

Boston-based Mr. Steinberg will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and underwriting for Navigator’s wholesale property products and manage relationships with property insurance wholesalers, the Hartford said in its statement. He will work closely with Tim Ryan, who leads Navigator’s wholesale division.

Hartford bought Navigators last year. 

Mr. Steinberg was previously vice president and head of commercial property at Validus Specialty Underwriters, a unit of American International Group Inc., in Boston.
