Siberian oil spill causes nearly $90 million damage to waterways

Greenpeace Russia said that the spill of more than 20,000 liters of diesel into a Siberian river has caused at least 6 billion Russian rubles ($87 million) worth of damage to waterways above the Arctic Circle, The Moscow Times reported. The spill was caused when a diesel fuel tank at Russian mining conglomerate MMC Norilsk Nickel PJSC's thermal power plant near Norilsk was damaged as its supporting pillars started sinking.
